Why is the "user completely lost"? There's no help missing. Because he is no longer able to see the cursor: he has no idea about where it is located on the screen. I don't have astronaut.vim, but I tried a lot of other colorschemes and with bg='dark' on a black terminal (a fairly common scenario I believe) the cursor vanish when going on such a bar. Wouldn't this be an issue for many users?
