I think there's still a lot of confusion about exactly why the settings 
set from the login shell carry over to so many applications in UNIX. It 
is not conventional to wrap every single item in a login shell; such a 
convention would be ludicrous.

As already discussed, if more people actually grok'ked what was going on 
in their UNIX environments, they would have no problem with how things 
must be done within MacVim.
