1. If possible upgrade to 4 MB of RAM.
2. Find and 800 K external floppy drive.

3. Buy as many 800K(Double Sided Double Density) floppy drisks as you can find.

4. Find an external HD for your Plus.

5. The Imagewriter(I) works with the correct driver.

6. The Imagewriter II works with the correct driver and is more easily found.

7. System 6.03 works well from floppys and You can use MultiFinder..

8. Use Text-Edit or Anrcho as a text editor.

9. Microsoft Works 2 works well with a HD.

I am not sure how much of this stuff is still availabe. I taught school and
used my Mac Plus as my school computer-typing up lesson plans and classwork and
transfering it to my ColorClassic at home.  I would got to the local Barnes and
Noble's coffee shop and step at a corner table near the electrical oultet. I
loved being able to leave my Plus running Knowing it would be safe becuase it
was Black and White Beige and Ugly.

Good hunting!

Subject: Macintosh Plus - programs

Just acquired a Macintosh Plus. I'm very excited about it but am having trouble
getting started. I'll try to be concise but may use incorrect jargon or
otherwise blatantly flaunt my unrivaled ignorance on this topic. Please bear
with me!

It boots and runs well. I'd like to know what OS it is running, if I need=2
0any system discs for it, and generally what programs are compatible with it.
It does not appear to have any programs except for Finder, Scrapbook, and
Calculator. I am mostly interested in word processing, spreadsheets, basic text
documents. Secondary interests include "paint"-type programs and games
(graphical and text-based).

Is the ImageWriter suitable for this computer? Are drivers necessary/available
for this printer? Is ImageWriter II this compatible with Mac Plus? Which is
preferable?

I'm aware that this computer has the ability to be expanded to 4MB RAM. Is this
worth it? Is it necessary for the purposes I intend to use it for?

I'm guessing the upgrade would be necessary for programming, in a language such
as BASIC. What software, if any, would facilitate this? How much memory is
recommended?

My final question: what is the best way to obtain such software, drivers, or
whatever is needed? I have looked around online for such information, but was
unable to find anybody offering diskettes. Are Mac Plus programs available
online to download?

If someone does not have the time to answer my questions, redirecting me to an
appropriate website would do nicely. If anybody has the materials I need, I
would be glad to pay for them. Any information you can give me would be a great
help!

Thanks --RAS
