What would the serial number be? I mean, what would a person need to know about
the serial number to be sure that it's what it is supposed to be. Would you
just look for a low number?

well... if they don't have a real one, you can find the photo somewhere, or
you can just make sure that it is in line with the first 100

I bought some software on ebay several years ago. I didn't use Paypal. I just
mailed a money order. I'm still waiting for the software. Anyway, I'll never
again buy anything from an individual without using Paypal.

How do you authenticate something like that? Anyone could go to an engraver
and have a gold plate made.

Would you be able to authenticate it from a serial number?

That is a good point.... I usually just ask for a few pictures (including
one of a serial number) before I buy something like that.

Well, I think anyone that pays that much for a really old computer would
have to be Mac fanatic regardless of where it was purchased. Ebay would be a
much safer way to buy, especially for the buyer.
Maybe I'm a cynic, but i would have a problem sending $1500 to a stranger
for something that may or may not be what he says it is. A gold plate on the
back? Seriously? A gold plate on the back?
And why would anyone want to sell something like that, if it is what he
claims it is?
Why not put it on ebay and then advise the list that it's there?
    Sorry, maybe I'm too suspicious.

A couple of guesses for why he isn't selling it on ebay, another could be
that he wants to send it to someone who will actually appreciate it, not just
let it sit on a shelf... (just guessing)

You should sell on eBay for that kind of money. Why come here?

I worked for Steve Jobs during 1984 and I have one of the first

Steve Jobs and has a plaque on the back. It has the original
carrying
case and a few pieces of software. I would like to sell it. If
anyone
is interested please make me an offer.
