I think, the OP wants to click on the "Subject" column and have all the incoming messages be sorted (not filtered) alphabetically. The solution would be for the group owner to have the group name automatically included in the subject when the message is posted: (vintage-mac) or something similar. Some people don't want a separate folder for each group. I use rules and folders for some of my groups, but not all, preferring to let some messages be listed in the general list of incoming messages, or I use rules to put messages from some groups together into a "category" folder. I wish all the groups would include the group ID in the subject line like most of my groups do. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
