Hi, I have a 630 too.
Maybe there are several things that could cause such problems...
I think once it happened when I tried to put in an 8GB hard drive that
had been formatted in osX (the 4GB in there now was format in 8.6).
just because the HD spins up that doesn't mean the computer accepts it
or that it is good (I've had spinning drives that just quit but kept
spinning up). The hd is access by the front cover, you might try
disconnecting it. Do you have either a floppy or CD to start up from ?
you need I think something upwards of System 7.5 up to 8.1 (I have the
original cd and it is 7.5). Even if you don't if you get a blinking
"?" then the drive was bad.
also sometimes simply pulling everything out and reconnecting it helps
(things get tiny amounts corrosion) - especially the RAM cards. better
yet treat with some contact cleaner.
the cpu is not too hard to get out, but I think that mobo problem more
likely. But try all else first ! Also look to see letters "LC" in
either cpu, which means they lack an FPU, better if they have one.
