Well now that I have my Duo 230 up and running with a battery, I was
surprised to find that... you can't put it in the Duo Dock or take it
out without shutting it down. When I tried doing that, it came up with
an alert (after I unplugged it from the dock again) that basically
just said I tried to plug it into the dock, and you have to shut it
down first. Is there some workaround or special software that allows
it to be able to plug into the dock while it's on? I have System 7.5.5
installed on it currently. I've seen the Duo ads where it shows
someone working on it, and they simply plug it into the dock, and it
comes up with what was on the screen. Is this just deceptive
marketing, or is that a feature of the DuoDock II or DuoDock Plus?
Also, is there some way to see how much free space is left on the hard
drive in System 7.5.5? I'm running out of room I think, and I'm
thinking of putting another HD in the DuoDock. Would a 1Gb drive work,
or is that too big?
And third, using TattleTech, (Or About this Computer) it shows that it
has 12Mb of RAM, whether it's in or out of the Dock. I'm pretty sure
that there is more memory installed in the DuoDock, but I could be
mistaken. What's the deal with that? Can it address more then 12Mb?
MacTracker says it can have up to 24Mb.
Oh and one more thing, I noticed it runs a little bit slower with
System 7.5.5 then when I had System 7.1 on it. Would System 7.6.1 be
an improvement, or just make it slow way down? I would like to get it
networked with my Core 2 Duo iMac; I got very limited responses to a
thread I started about that a few weeks ago, but I'm pretty sure it
would be easier to network from 7.6.1 to 10.5 then 7.5.5... It almost
works now, but Chooser just crashes when you try to connect.
Well, thanks for reading through all that :) I'm eagerly waiting for
everyone's answers!
