All three DuoDock models had color video built in (especially nice for
monochrome and greyscale Duos) and slots for extra VRAM. The DuoDock supported
up to 832x624. To use a color Duo in an original DuoDock required replacing the
lid with one from a II or Plus dock. The lid on color Duos is thicker because
the color LCDs Apple used were thicker.
The II and Plus supported up to 1152x870 resolution and had an AAUI ethernet
connector. The DuoDock Plus was actually a "minus" because it didn't have the
68882 FPU the DuoDock and DuoDock II had. The Plus was intended for use with
the PPC Duo or Duos with a non-LC 68040.
All three Docks had a floppy drive, space for a 3.5" SCSI drive, NuBus slots
and a PowerBook style SCSI port.
The Duo 2300 was also sold as an upgrade kit consisting of the mainboard, lower
and upper case with trackpad. You could retain the upper case and trackball.
The Duo 2300 mainboard has LCD connectors for all types of LCD used in the Duo
line, so it's possible to have a 2300 with a 640x480 monochrome dual-scan LCD-
and a trackball.
