What about a Superdrive in a Mac Classic? It can read AND write to 400k
disks. . . right? Could I download system 3 and MacWrite and MacDraw on my
iBook. I do have an external floppy drive. Move it to the Classic and make
the boot disk there. I don't actually need to make the boot disk on a 400k
drive, do I? The Superdrive should work.

Does anyone have a system that they recommend? I was thinking 3 but the
floppy driven Macs are a new world for me and I could use all the help that
I can get

I had a little surprise when I brought this 512k home this weekend. I was
curious about the history of it, so I turned it over to get the serial
number and model number. The first thing I noticed is that the model number
is the same as a 128k. Then I researched the serial number and discovered
that it was made in Fremont, California the 50th week of 1983. . . more
then a month before the first 128k went on sale.

Anyway, it must have been converted to a 512k by Apple Service because the
back half of the cabinet says "Apple 512k". Does anyone know what week that
the factories started producing the first 128k's?

Thanks for any help.

David
