If you have a 25 pin to 25 pin cable with all wires straight through, it can be
adapted to many uses, SCSI, PC parallel port, serial port, with the right
gender changers and/or adapters at one or both ends.

Yup! Do NOT connect any PC parallel port device to the 25 pin SCSI port on the
back of a Mac, or any SCSI device with that same connector to a PC's parallel
port. (Bad choice of connector by Apple. Grrrr. Same goes for them using the
same connector for Video as PCs used for joystick ports.)

Replacement is the only real fix. Washing the board may help short term. Don't
use detergent and do not use a heated drying cycle. The hot water and pressure
should be enough to clean the board.
