I'm not sure what you're referring to here... for any Mac that has support
end at Mac OS 9.1, they can update from 9.0 to 9.1 with the free download
update.  Yes, there are some differences between Mac OS 9.1 installed from a
full 9.1 CD-ROM vs. a Mac OS 9.0 updated to 9.1, and they are outlined here:
