I've done all of these.

Try washing with distilled water first; it's less hostile.

Then use the dishwasher with no soap.  This works particularly well
for keyboards.

I've also left the keyboard from a butterfly-style thinkpad hanging
from the cae into water to recover a keyboard.  Got all the keys back,
but lost a rubber "spring"
