Hi,

The Mac Portable runs best under Mac OS 6.0.8
This can be freely downloaded from the Apple Website at:
http://www.info.apple.com/support/oldersoftwarelist.html

The 9v battery is a standard 9 volt battery you can buy in almost everywhere
where they sell standard batteries ( Wallmarkt,... ). The 6 Volts main
battery: with some experience of electronics you can easily rebuild it
yourself for about 25US$. Replace the Cells inside with a 6 Volts Lead-Acid
battery of 5 Amps.
That battery is not that hard to find too.

The original white power supply is rather rare: you don't see them often on
Ebay but you can use the Gray 7,5 volts, 2 Amps power adapter from the
Powerbook 100 series. Do not use the heavy 3 Amps adapter that comes with
the powerbook 165c and 180c as this one will overload the power system of
the Mac Portable: in short it won't last long like this.

You might be tempted to try to start the Mac Portable without a rebuild
battery. Don't as the Mac Portable draws more power to run that the power
adapter can give so it constantly drains his main battery, even with the PSU
plugged in.

When considering to buy the M5120: check that the hard drive is not dead,
very common error, as they are very hard to find and only rarely offered on
Ebay.

Take Care,

Nico

Does anyone know a good source for vintage parts?

Specifically:

1) Main (lead/acid) batteries and a 9v battery, and power supply for a
Macintosh portable M5120.
1a) possibly system disks for the same

2) System disks (3.5) for a Lisa model A6SO200.

These are eBay items with parts missing, and would otherwise be attractive
to a vintage collection.
