so you need to 'find' 2DD disks (2 sided double density)
the LC III will read/write 800k disks, do not know about the PM 7100..

only other thought is , if the system 6 boot floppy has enough on it to
run AppleTalk,
then connecting to the PM 7100 could be an answer to transfer to SE/plus
and write to the disk there.

puzzled about the CD not reading on the 7100 , may be the drive can not
read CD-R disks.
some CD drives are sensitive about the color of the CD disk..


You might try burning at the lowest speed your burner can use .... just checked MacTracker ... the 7100 shipped w/ a 2x cdrom drive.
