The logic board slides out the back, same for all 500 and 5000 series all in 
one Macs.

To remove the 72 pin SIMM, pull the latch at each end of it outward and the 
SIMM will pop over at an angle. Pull the SIMM out then insert the new SIMM at 
that same angle then push upright until it snaps into the latches at both ends.

There's an offset notch in the bottom edge of the SIMM. Make sure to install 
the new SIMM with the notch in the same orientation as the old one.

You can upgrade to a 57x (575/577/578 all the same Mac with different  base 
configurations) board. Most of those shipped with an LC040 CPU but that can be 
swapped for a 68040 with FPU. Those boards can also use a 128 meg SIMM to get 
132 meg RAM. Has to be a specific configuration of SIMM, can't use just any 128 
meg SIMM. Another benefit is 512K VRAM VS 256K. Unless you get a board with two 
VRAM SIMMs you'd have to buy one and move the one over from your 550.
