Clarification: To "bless" the System Folder in your broken disk images, you would need to boot vMac using a working boot disk (such as from the vMac downloads page), and then while the system is booted, load up the broken disk image, drag the System out of the System Folder and then back again (if that does not work, try dragging the Finder in and out instead, it is one or the other that does the trick). Once you do this, your broken disk image should now boot (hopefully).
