I'm afraid you lost me. The use of .hqx was meant to preserve file
integrity when moved around the internet or from machine to machine.
If you used the original files from the 400k diskettes, making them
into .hqx files on the 128k, you would have produced files that could
have been moved to another 68k machine or perhaps to a PPC running OS
9 or so, and when "unpacked" would be intact. They still may not be
useful, depending on the application which used/produced them. Trying
to "open" a file from a 68k machine on any OS X machine (particularly
after OS X 10.4) can lead to LOT of frustration.
I recently moved a bunch of files from 800k and 1.6mb disks for a
person who only had a "modern" OS X machine. I could see them and open
them on my Color Classic (and run the application that was on the
disks which displayed the graphics included), and open them on my
PowerBook G3 (OS 10.4). However, the PowerBook had to use Preview to
display the graphics file, rather than the 68k on-disk application.
