I have access to a CD Writer, unfortunately this Quadra has no internal CD drive, regrettably I had an external CD drive and stupidly dispensed with it some time ago.
Mike thanks for that as its exactly what I'm looking for. I have encountered a problem of ID conflict with the current internal hard drive. The person who sold the Quadra to me had installed a PC SCSI hard drive, the problem here is that these drives do not follow the Apple SCSI protocol. Which uses 0 in the SCSI chain as the default ID for the internal hard drive. The PC drive fitted has the ID setting of 6. This in itself shouldn't have caused a problem as I knew about it worked round it. Until I connected a device that had only 2 ID settings, 5 & 6. I used its ID setting of 5 and hoped it would work, unfortunately its ID adjustor must be faulty, as I got an ID conflict, and the Quadra failed to boot. I have hoped that after leaving the Quadra dormant for a while it may have rectified itself, especially with nothing else connected to it, but to no avail. One point with the drives capacity, I'm scratching my bonce here but I seem to remember initially that it had an 8Mb internal drive with OS 8 installed, which was barely sufficient to run the OS let alone any applications, and doing work with it was difficult. The drive I've got an ID conflict with, I bought as a replacement and upgrade, its 250Mb. I have just checked online and the maximum capacity was 400Mb. So if you have any drive 200Mb or larger I'll certainly have OS 8. But if its smaller than that then it would have to be OS 7.
