There is no difference between "Apple" and "PC" SCSI.  As long as you can
physically connect things together (there are adapters), PC gear will work
in a Mac.  The only trouble might be booting from a CD-ROM drive without
"blessed" firmware.

Have you tried changing the ID on the internal HDD?  There should be a
group of three jumpers for that purpose; removing all three jumpers should
give you id 0.  On an enclosure with a selector, you have to connect the
selector to that jumper group for it to take effect anyway.
