Lead won't block magnetic fields. You need a ferrous
metal like steel. Good quality monitors have enough
shielding and are carefully built so they won't
radiate EMF and can also shield against EMF from
other equipment. I have a Mitsubishi Diamond Scan
15VX 15" on my 7300 and a 17" "Micron" (probably an
ADI Microscan, can't get a look at the back of it
right now) on my PC and they're very close. No bother
to each other. OTOH, my anchient NEC Multisync Plus
(with both HDB15 and BNC connectors, supports every
mode from CGA on up to ???) absolutely "pollutes"
the local airspace with EMF, enough to give the
Mitsubish screen the ripples. The NEC weighs a ton
and even has its own cooling fan, yet it's only a
15" monitor. (Looks like those regulations have done
some good, even if they were "suggested" for totally
bogus human health reasons!)

I've been trying to decide if it's worth upgrading
the CRT in the NEC to a .28 dot pitch one from
the .3something it has. I know a guy who can do it
and do it right for a really good price, but he's
awful slow... You just don't find these "all in one"
monitors in good shape anymore!
