It is very frustrating for people in this part of the world to see
shiny cool parts on internet sites as shipping procedures and charges may be
daunting for us. VW original style headlight relays were available till a
short while ago but now they are no longer imported by the dealer.
Other kind of relays, a wide range, are available from a shop
specialising in electrical components and the shopman is quite knowlegeable,
so I m pretty confident Ill get a good pair from there.
In Pakistan we get brand new relays as well as secondhand ones taken
off Japanese cars. The later are especially imported from God knows where in
bulk and are more popular than the new Chinese/taiwanese ones.

Definitely. You should install special relays and wiring to run the high
wattage headlight bulbs. Voltage remaining the same, an increase in
wattage requires an increase in amperage. Amperage = heat =
melted/burned wires and plastic if the wire is not large enough to carry
the amperage.
