Hello all,
I found some articles discussing an issue affecting some gmail users with IOS
devices getting error messages such as the imap server is not responding. Make
sure all account settings are correct.
Google is aware of the problem, and in the meantime, a work around involves
downloading the gmail app which I did.

All is now fine with my receiving and sending work email on my phone.

I'm also using a personal gmail account on my iPhone & iPad.

The only thing I've noticed is sometimes message threads get intertwined.

Hi Daniel thank you for your note. I am using my personal Gmail account on
my iPhone with no difficulty. So I wonder why I am having an issue with my work
email account.

      Hi,

There’s a problem with accessing gmail on iOS devices. Google is aware of
it, but doesn’t know when a solution will be found.

      Hello all,

I am having a strange problem with a Gmail account I use for work and my
iPhone 4S. I can no longer access my email on my phone, as I keep getting the
prompt saying that I need to check the settings for the imap server.

Our I T person told me that we use the SMTP.gmail.com as our outgoing
email server. It shows this in my gmail settings on hte iphone, but I continue
receiving the imap prompt.

I wonder if I need to restore the phone or something?

      Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I already have my Verizon account set up on my iPhone. I would like to
set up my gmail account. I already have gmail being sent to my computer using
pop3 for Outlook Express. It looks like, while setting this up, the iphone
wants me to use IMAP. Can this be done? I can't seem to set it up here.
