Hi John,

Keep in mind that once Apple is offering a lot of the channels which now are
available on cable that this will not be a free service. Apple is not in the
habit of giving things away hence their enormous wealth. I heard talk about
something like $40 a month and while this is still cheaper than cable (at least
in Canada) nobody really knows yet what they will charge and whether what is
being offered will be as comprehensive as cable. I think over time it will be
and it is my hope that with Apple it is more possible to pick and choose those
channels one is interested in. I find that here with the satellite company we
have, if you want a particul;ar channel you have to take whatever package of
channels that the channel you want is in. This may of course include a few
other channels one might like, but it is almost a given that half the channels
that come in the package are channels you never end up watching. Of course the
companies are very good at putting the most popular channels into different
packages so if you want them you end up with 3 or 4 packages with a lot of
stuff you don't really want or need.
Just as with cellular and internet services, at least here in Canada I think TV
is a bit of a rip-off. Yes, we are the second largest country in the world
geographically and have the smallest population density of all developed
countries, but it's still more expensive than I think it has to be. But I
understand it is also expensive in the US and you guys have 10 times the
population of Canada in the continental United States which is an area about
20% smaller than Canada. In many European countries both TV and cellular and
internet services are much cheaper.

Regards,
Sieghard

As far as I can guess each tv will need its own box. Even though it may seem
expensive at first, over time if you eliminate cable, it will save you a lot of
money.
