This is pretty much what I do as well. Occasionally though, the single
finger flick up or down won't move through the picker options but
instead will do something like move character by character or word by
word. When this happens, after focusing on the picker item, I'll go to
the roter and make sure Action is selected, and then use the one finger
flick up or down.
