Truthfully, from what I’ve seen is that between cell services and the really inexpensive long distances plans most landline users have any more, other than for PR purposes, there really is no need for 800 service anyway. My cell service has free long distance service for the United States, my landline would cost more by the time I add in phone features, if I didn’t take the flat rate long distance. For a brand new affiliate like GDUIES, I’d probably think about not worrying too much about the 800 number, although I understand that almost everyone who counts has one for one reason or another. Truthfully, when I have a choice to call a non-800 number or an 800 number, I choose the local number because I hate the thought of paying the phone companies double. I’m a bigtime Google Voice user and use the texting as well as call forwarding/filtering features with a separate Skype number as a backup and secondary number for my business. I’ve been contemplating getting an 800 number as work has expanded beyond my local area to more state wide. Can anyone comment on how flexible any of these 800 number services are in regards to forwarding to other numbers and or texting? I know worse comes to worse, I can always keep my GV number for strictly texting purposes, but GV being able to forward to multiple numbers is incredibly helpful. I have it go to my Skype number at my main desktop as well as my dedicated business cell in case I have to step away from the PC. The Google Voice as well as the GVConnect iOS apps for iPhone are completely accessible which facilitates things too. Any input would be helpful. The reviews between two of the big cloud-based phone service companies, Ringcentral and Grasshopper, seem to indicate the both have comparible features, but a slightly different approach. It seems Ringcentral’s support is rated somewhat better although I tried Ringcentral a few years ago and wasn’t overly impressed. As with many companies and this is mentioned online, Ringcentral is outsourcing support mostly to the Philippines and I certainly had a few people on the line back then where there was a bit of a language barrier. Grasshopper claims their support is in the US (Florida) and that they encourage customers to call support any time whereas Ringcentral encourages customers to use the Ringcentral.com for support first and only if really necessary to call support. My guess is that Grasshopper may have stepped up a bit because in todays connected world online reviews can be very damaging and I don’t think in the long run any company can afford to have consistently bad reviews. I signed up for a Grasshopper toll free number and will try it for 30 days since they say they have a 30-day money back guaranty. I have downloaded the app and it seems very accessible where with Ringcentral there were a few issues if I remember correctly. The American Council of the blind of Minnesota used to use grasshopper, and we found they had absolutely horrible customer service. We use magicJack now, but all we do is lie phone support. We don't meet or have mailboxes. Hopefully, grasshopper has improved. It really did have some very cool features.
