Sieghaard, please be sure to tell us if you consider the Outlook app to be better than the native mail app, once both new additions are available and considered by yourself? I could well be very interested at that stage.

Hi Mary,

You are correct, KNFB Reader still does not work on the latest Beta which is
developer beta 7 and public beta 6. There never have been this many betas, Rob
from Today in iOS Podcast thinks that this current version is the last Beta
before the Goldmaster which usually comes out the week of the keynote and which
also usually is the first public release. Sometimes if a serious bug is
discovered in the Goldmaster there is another update before the public release.
I have a feeling that Apple may actually release another beta next week, but
who knows. Anyhow, it would appear that the KNFB Reader issue is something that
needs to be addressed with an app update of the KNFB Reader app and I would
hope that KNFB will release this update before or around the time of the public
release of iOS 10.
Microsoft has just acknowledge officially for the first time that there are
issues with the Outlook app and iOS 10, currently you can't set up an Office
365 account or sign in with an Outlook.com account which has two-step
verification enabled. They told me this privately in an email weeks ago and
with the last Outlook update said in the What's New that they are aware of this
and are working on a fix. This would make me think that they are going to
release a fix before the public release and I look forward to this because one
thing that works much better in Outlook now is being able to review text by
character and word in the message body. This was not working previously and was
basically the major dealbreaker why I wouldn't use Outlook as my major mail
client. If this continues to work Outlook may very well be a very good
alternative to the iOS native Mail app.

Hi Sieghard,
I was using the on-screen keyboard, and I was careful about capitalizing the
parts of my password that need to be capitalized and not capitalizing the rest.
And yes, I was trying to register for the beta on my iPad mini two. I expect
this will be the last upgrade for the mini too. I don't know why it's getting
it and iPod touch five isn't. But such are the breaks I guess. I was going to
try it on my 6S, and then I chickened out, not knowing if K NFB would work, as
I heard it didn't early on and still doesn't on the recently released android
nougat

Hi Mary,

Are you doing this from the device that you want to register? Unfortunately
there isn't much I can tell you other than that it has to be done from the
device you want to register, you go to beta.apple.com and follow the links and
steps required. Are you using a Bluetooth keyboard or do you use the on-screen
keyboard, make sure if you use a Bluetooth keyboard that you don't have caps
lock on when you enter your password. I know these is basic advice which as an
experienced user you probably know and have checked, but unless there was some
sort of issue with the Apple servers this is all I can think of.
You are correct, by the way, the iPad 2 is not going to get iOS 10 any more and
as far as I know of all Lightning devices the iPod Touch fifth gen for some
reason also will not be compatible any more, the only iPod that can run iOS 10
is the sixth generation iPod Touch.

Sieghard

Subject: Signing up for the Apple Beta

Now that we are so close to the release of iOS 10, I decided to take a flyer on
the beta using my iPad too. I should say my iPad mini two, since I don't know
that the iPad 2 is even eligible for this beta, and in any case, I don't have
an iPad too. So I would like to hear from someone off the list who might be
able to shed light on the following. I went to the beta site and went to sign
up with my Apple ID. I very carefully entered my Apple ID and very carefully
entered my password. I was told either my ID or password was incorrect. I have
repeated this process twice more being extremely careful each time. And each
time the result is the same. I have had and used this Apple ID ever since I got
my first device years ago. And I have never had a problem with it, nor have I
changed the password. The many hundreds of dollars worth of stuff I bought from
the various stores attest to the fact that I have had no problem entering my
password upon request. Smile. I don't think I am missing a step, that is
something I would have to do before trying to sign up for the beta with my ID.
I didn't see anything on the first page of the beta site. So can someone who
has done this please enlighten me as to what I may be doing wrong.
Mary
