Hi Kliphton,

Just thought I add to your very good and concise post about the Apple TV that
even though Donald Trump may not agree, the world is larger than the United
States and all these channels you can watch/listen to on the Apple TV if you
have an existing subscription are limited to the US. Fanus is in South Africa
and I’m in Canada and while we have Netflix here, there is a lot less content
available than on the american Netflix due to copyright and licensing issues
and most of the other ones you mentioned are not available even in Canada let
alone elsewhere in the world. I find it amazing how some companies tute their
horn about all these great devices but they forget to mention that you can only
get them in the United States, Amazon is one example.

Fanus, as for the Apple TV, it still is a wonderful device even in Canada since
it does allow me to use apps like Youtube, many apps from tech sites like
Engadget, Twit TV and also Podcasts. I can stream music and of course movies I
bought from iTunes, you can rent iTunes movies which I assume is available in
many countries and Netflix is also available in many countries and it’s
probably the most accessible experience on the Apple TV. Furthermore I can
Airplay anything from my iPhone to the Apple TV even if there I sno native app
and if I want to show photos to friends on the big screen then I can also do
that.

It’s not a super expensive device as Apple things are concerned and as Kliphton
said, it is fully accessible with it’s own version of Voiceover. It’s a pretty
good device to have if you are at all invested in the Apple Echo system and in
the future it will also play nice with many home automation devices if you are
into this type of stuff.

Regards,
Sieghard

Well, it does more than stream music an movies. You can log in to most
channels offered buy a service provider like time warner, comcast, or direct.
Of course you must pay for these subscriptions, or get someone to share there
info with you. The appleTV also has some games to be played on it. My
favorite app is infuse, this allows me to stream my entire movie collection to
my appleTV4 without using iTunes, or having to leave my mac on for Plex or some
other third party. And the best part about it, I don’t have to convert my
movie files in to mp4, they can be any format and infuse will stream them. The
most important thing for most of us, is we don’t need sited help to control the
appleTV, voiceover reads everything on the screen so we can control HBO,
netflix, Hulu, or whatever service you are using, including the network TV apps
at that have on demand content.

Hello Sieghard and list
Please pardon my stupid question but can anyone in a few sentences explain the
purpose of the apple tv. Is it only for downloading and playing music and
movies on the tv or can one control the tv set to a certain extent i.e. can one
hear the menu and shedule normal tv programs etc.?
I am not a movie fan so I ask this question on behalf of a blind friend who
wants to access the tv.

Keep in mind that you can dictate anywhere including spelling passwords and
user names. Also, if you have a bluetooth keyboard you can pair it for easier
typing and in fact you can pretty much control the Apple TV completely with a
bluetooth keyboard. Only thing I can't remember now is if there is a way to
invoke SIRI with a bluetooth keyboard.

Subject: Loving Apple tv, have more questions

Hello to Daniel and all who have helped me with my Apple tv, so far. I really
appreciate it.

I really dislike saying this, because I was so hesetant to purchase it.
But I absolutely love it! I think it's awesome!

My friend helped me set it up, because I didn't see the message in time,
telling me how to start voiceover. But once we got voiceover on, I took
it over.

I actually like the little gesture area. I thought it would be very
difficult to use. But not at all. And I like how you press the little
clicker thing at the end. Ok, surely not the propper name for it. LOL!

The keyboard is still a bit confusing to me. But overall I like the new
set up so far. I find it faster to choose letters, and such.

Also, one feature I really loved, was how easy it was to set it up, and
connect to my network. I liked how I unlocked my phone, and held it near
the tv. That was too cool how it used the bluetooth. The set up was
flawless.

I haven't done much with it, beyond that. Mainly, because I am not sure
what to do.

How do I get my apps like, CBS, Hulu, and Netflix on there?

Even if they are on my Ipad, and I have subscriptions, do I have to
download them on to the Apple TV?

I couldn't find an area where I could see all my apps. But maybe I don't
know where to look.

Also, if I want other free or subscription-based apps for movies, or tv
shows, how do I go about finding such stuff?

Unfortunately, I don't know many apps, and I honestly don't know how to
search for such things.

I'd like to find apps that are pretty accessible. But I'd try some apps
just to check them out as well, if I knew how to find them.

Also, how do you know which news apps give broadcasts of stories, and
not just articles?

I know NPR has a news app.

Any help with any of this would be much appreciated. I'm going to mess
around with the Apple tv more, tomorrow. I am definitely happy I bought
it. I can't believe now that I was so intimidated by it.

Thank you,

Terri
