I have only had Consumer Cellular, so I cannot speak to what happens when you change from a major carrier, but Consumer Cellular has an app that shows your minutes used, text messages used and data used. Granted, it is 24 to 48 hours before you can truly trust the numbers. They also have a policy to alert you via Email when you are approaching your monthly limit. Plus, now instead of charging a penalty if you go over, they simply bump you up to the next level, which is usually only $10 and since you ccan change plans monthly if you want to, you can just change back at the start of the next month. I've never fully understood the visual voice mail stuff, but voice mmail works great and I don't have to call in to get it, it is just there on the phone.
