No issues here, either on my 6S Plus. Also, I believe ?Applevis said that if 
you bring up the app switcher from inside an app and you then try to close that 
particular app it may sometimes but not always crash and respring, at least 
that is how I understood it. I have not experienced a single crash and on my 6S 
Plus after closing the last app it does go back out to the home screen.

I have experienced this behavior on my iPhone 7.

Haven't updated my iPad pro yet.

So in short I'm not sure if it's by design or a bug as pointed out by the blog 
post.
