1) Don't leave your finger on the message in the list. I usually get it to work when I use a right or left flick. It does not work when I delete a message.
2) Archive has to do with whether or not your messages are flagged for saving on the server or moved to trash. Notes is for backing notes up on gmail server. I believe calendar is the same, but am not certain yet. 3) The first word is place, and it has to do with what happens to your messages when you delete them. 4) Use a three-finger swipe down whilst at the top of the message list with actions selected in the rotor to refresh mail.
