I just downloaded this app and tried a few things. I took a few pictures around the bedroom and it gave me various information such as “Looks like a bed in a dark room” or “looks like abed and a small desk” (that one had the night table in the frame). I then turned on the overhead light and took a few more pictures from maybe 6 feet in front of our dresser and it said “Looks like a wooden cabinet”, then again the bed and it said “looks like a made up bed in a hotel room” (the bed was made up). Then a picture of the corner where my dog was lying and it said “looks like a dog lying on the floor”. I also took a picture of a 4 Liter box of red win and it didn’t get that one, said it looked like a sign. When I tried the life text on the big side of the box it didn’t give me anything, Seeing AI told me instantly “Red Wine” and a few other things. I then trained it to recognize the Red Wine which happens to be called “Screw It”, it’s a British Columbia wine I quite like. I took the 4 or 5 pictures, put in the name “Screw It Red Wine” and then after I saved it I took a picture of the side where I trained it from and it said “Looks like your Screw It Red Wine”, I tried the other side and it gave me the same information. Would be interesting to see if I had another boxed wine there if it could tell the difference. I did try the one narrow side of the box with the live text function and it did read some stuff, but not as well as with the Seeing AI Short Text channel.
I also took several pictures of my yellow lab, Radar, while he was sitting facing me from maybe 2 or 3 feet away. I trained it to say “Radar” and when I took several pictures even from the side and a bit from behind it always said “Looks like your Radar”. However, when I took the picture from further away it said “Looks like a dog lying on the floor”. I tried a couple of pictures of a wool sweater which I spread out on the bed and I took the pictures from 2 or so feet above it, first time it said “Looks like a purple shirt”, it’s neither a shirt nor is it purple whatsoever. The second from a bit of a different angle said “lLooks like a green blanket on a bed” which of course is even more off. In conclusion, the app has some potential and the ability to train it for objects is quite nice, almost a bit like the old LookTel Recognizer, but seems a lot easier to do. I haven’t tried training it for faces, but I have done so with Seeing AI and it is very good. This is on my SE running the latest iOS. I noticed this lack of usability only after the most recent update. So thanks for that. That is why I am keeping this app because I’m sure your busy with other things in your life as well as dealing with a new app. So I just wanted to say its appreciated that you are responding to the community. Now, just so you know I’ve got an iPhone 7 and not the most recent update but the one just before that one. For some reason when I try either reading documents or turning on the live text I can’t seem to get anything. When I try with other apps I get the help I need. So maybe you can give me some tips? Maybe your app is a bit different in that I need to wait a bit longer? These are just questions I’m asking. Again, thanks. Here is my deal, before any updates it worked fine for me, now I can’t seem to do anything with it even with this latest update.
