Yes, if you have an iPhone and an iPad, there is a setting that will allow you to receive calls on the iPad if the iPhone is in range. You can also double tap on a contact phone number on the iPad and make a call, again if the iPhone is in range. But, without an iPhone, you would use FaceTime or Skype. As for text messages, you can text using your email address to other Apple device owners with an iPad, but I do not think you can text to a non-Apple device. That one I'm not sure of, so take that with a grain of salt. Richard
