Hi Hank,
When you get an iPhone it doesn’t have touch ID, and you are a voiceover user,
as you set up the phone with voiceover in abled, the phone knows that you’re
using voiceover, so it disables the attention feature. That’s the one that
makes you look at the iPhone with your eyes open and looking at the camera.
With that disabled, all you have to do is point your face towards the phone
once you have the Face ID thing done, and it will open. That’s why it is a
security risk. Somebody swiped your iPhone out of your hand, pointed at your
face, and they have an open iPhone that they can run away with or whatever. But
if you’re OK with that risk, or if you just basically use your phone at home,
then no problem. So there is a way around it. It’s just not very secure.
