Then I realluy don't know, on my 6S Plus it works just as well when I dictate a text or iMessage as it does if I dictate an email, Whats App message, Facebook Messengewr message or Note using the Notes app.

On the main iPhone 8 that I am using, the dictation is 50% accurate, completely unacceptable, on the Home Pod, it is nearly 100% accurate. How the heck can I clear out whatever I-message is using, and start fresh, it's the app that I use most frequently, and I would really like to be able to count on its dictation capabilities.
