Hi,
Yes that’s true but if you lock the phone the sighted people with whom you
might happen to be chatting think you’ve disappeared or are no longer available
to chat. That’s what they kept saying to me yesterday.
Thanks for the correction perhaps I was mistaken that this app ever voiced in
coming messages. Still seems strange that it wasn’t or couldn’t be designed to
do so. I hadn’t any vibrations on my device. Doe this occur if you haven’t
vibrations turned on in settings and sounds?
Robin

The Facebook Messenger app can be set to read messages by voiceover when you
receive a message on the lock screen of your device. Just go to Settings,
Notifications & swipe down to Messenger.

Donna

You may be thinking of the Messages app, which does read incoming messages.
Facebook never has done this, unfortunately. The only way to know if a new
message has come in is to try to feel the phone vibration which happens when a
new message comes in, and hope it’s from the chat you’re in at the time.

    Hi,
Funny you mention this as just yesterday I was in this app and noted that
it doesn’t read in coming messages automatically at least not by me. The only
way I could get alerted to new messages was to lock the phone but then the
sighted person with whom I was speaking kept saying I was disappearing in terms
of their view. I thought the app used to read in coming messages as they
arrived but perhaps my memory is faulty on this one. Are there any work-arounds
for this?

    Hi folks

It is no longer possible to delete messages in messenger using the rotor
tasks. However, you can click on delete message but nothing happens. If you
hold and release after the 3 progress beeps you can access the menu for that
person but there seems to be no option to delete the conversation.

For the users of itunes 12.6.3 it makes no sense to roll back to a previous
version of the app because when reinstalling the app on your phone you are
prompted to update the app otherwise it won’t work anymore.
Please report this bug to facebook accessibility.
    Regards
    Davy
