While it looks like you can play your Amazon music from within the Amazon app on iPhone, I have always found it much easier to use Apple Music. If you know the song or artist you want to hear you can ask Siri to play it and if your taste in music isn't too far out there from the "norm" it will usually just happen and you don't have to mess with Shortcuts to get it to work. If you don't know just what to say you can search by artist, song title or even a little bit of the lyrics of a song that you happen to remember from within Apple Music and often I find what I want that way. It's very easy to add new music to your library but this doesn't mean it has to take up space on your devices because you have a choice to actually download it for offline listening or not. Now with apple music coming to Echo devices soon it seems pretty much like Apple Music will continue to be my choice. Last but certainly not least, most phones are with their people almost all the time so your Apple Music is always right there with you!

I don't have either Amazon music or Apple Music at this time but have thought about subscribing to one but not both. Because I am a Prime member, Amazon is less expensive but I have found that purchasing music from them is really difficult these days and for that reason I am more reluctant to use them. So, having said all that, do people overall have any preference between these services?

I am not sure if it will just be a subscription service like Spotify, or you will also be able to play your own personal music and the free stations offered by Apple Music. Now I would assume that if you are already an Apple Music subscriber, then you should be fine and be able to access it without a problem. I am wondering if this is going to be permanent, or just for a short period. I am an able subscriber, and have an apple account as I am an iPhone 7 Plus user. Also, is this a free feature, or is there a monthly subscription fee. Thanks folks! Michael G. McKay BA, ’05. Apple Music subscribers will be able to enjoy Apple Music’s 50 million songs on Echo devices. Customers will be able to ask Alexa to play their favorite songs, artists, and albums—or any of the playlists made by Apple Music’s editors from around the world, covering many activities and moods. Customers will also be able to ask Alexa to stream expert-made radio stations centered on popular genres like Hip-Hop, decades like the 80s, and even music from around the world, like K-Pop. Just ask Alexa to play Beats 1 to hear Apple Music’s global livestream including in-depth artistinterviews— all completely ad-free. Simply enable the Apple Music skill in the Alexa app and link your account to start listening.“Music is one of the most popular features on Alexa—since we launched Alexa four years ago, customers are listening to more music in their homes than ever before,” said Dave Limp, senior vice president, Amazon Devices. “We are committed to offering great music providers to our customers and since launching the Music Skill API to developers just last month, we’ve expanded the music selection on Alexa to include even more top tier services. We’re thrilled tobring Apple Music – one of the most popular music services in the US – to Echo customers this holiday.”Customers tell us that the simplicity and ease of asking Alexa for the content they want to hear has brought more music into their homes. Customers ask Alexa to play all kinds of music in many different languages. They stream tens of millions of hours of radio per month and have set tens of millions of music alarms since the feature launched less than a year ago. Fun fact: Top country is the most requested music to wake up to. We’re excited to bring Apple Music to our Alexa customers this holiday season. Source: Amazon MacDailyNews Take: Oh ok.
