Most cellular airtime plans provide national free long-distance calling, often unlimited. Long distance from a landline is also quite cheap, in Canada, $35 a month gets you unlimited calling to Canada and the USA or to most countries in Europe. However, we pay a fortune to call Caribbean nations. There are no similar cheap packages to Africa, Asia, Australia, or Oceania. Or Antarctica for that matter. Sincerely, Brian K. At least the US number is 877. My wife got an iPad Mini 5 in June and has never had this problem. It is either a bad unit, or a connection problem. Thee aps may not be compatible with Voiceover, which is odd, as they are made by Apple, which also makes Voiceover. Call Apple Accessibility at (800) 204-3930. I downloaded Audible, Kindle, Playgrounds, and a few others from the app store. All apps which I download do work. It is just most of the built-in apps which refuse to download and open. This sounds like something is up with your internet connection. Or, there is an issue with the wifi antenna in the iPad.
