Joe,

I approach entering capital letters differently depending on whether I know the
proper name being entered is in my FlickType dictionary or not. For example, my
last name Lemly is in my dictionary but if I type it while in the FlickType
full screen keyboard, lemly is entered not capitalized. So, before tapping my
last name letters, I'll do a two finger tap on the screen to set capital
letters and then tap near the l e m l y and swipe once and Lemly will be
capitalized. When I'm entering a proper name that I'm confident isn't in my
dictionary, I place my finger near where I believe the first letter to be
located but if I land on an incorrect letter, I slide my finger without lifting
it until the correct first letter is spoken and then I gently apply pressure to
the screen which will speak cap followed by that letter before lifting my
finger to move to the next key in the name manually. This works great for me to
capitalize letters entered manually so you might try practicing this method.

I hope this helps but write back with other questions.

Alan Lemly

Alan,

Thank you for the excellent explanation. I already feel a lot smoother typing
using the app.

I did send a subscription request to the list, but in the meantime, how do you
flawlessly include capital letters in your text? I understand you do a two
finger tap to make the next letter a capital one, but the recognition seems to
falter, especially around people's names, to the point that it makes more sense
for me to manually enter the letters. FlickType is great for what it does, but
typing manually in the app feels slippery to me on account of how quickly the
app is trying to speed you along. It's a beautiful problem to have, mind you,
but I would like to get as proficient at it as you seem to be.

Thanks,

Joe
