Slide your finger up from the bottom of the screen until it vibrates the second time and this is the app switcher.

There's just a virtual assistive touch button on your screen, usually near the botom. I like it because I find the sliding gesture hard to do, meaning that I've never actually gotten it to work. It sounds easy from the descriptions but its never worked for me.
