Slide your finger up from the bottom of the screen until it vibrates the second 
time and this is the app switcher.

 Notifications and control centre are slide down from the top of the screen

No. It just gives you not another option for making certain gestures. There's 
just a virtual assistive touch button on your screen, usually near the botom. I 
like it because I find the sliding gesture hard to do, meaning that I've never 
actually gotten it to work. It sounds easy from the descriptions but its never 
worked for me. Personally I prefer the physical home button, so I will stick 
with that kind of phone as long as I can.
