Automatic should be on, so that the speaker will automatically change, when you remove the phone from your ear.

The choices are Automatic, Bluetooth headset, and Speaker on my iPhone 13 Mini. I think setting this to automatic will give you what you want. Now it doesn’t. Even if I move the volume up, it is still in my ear and not on speaker. If I’m outside near traffic, I cannot hear a conversation, but if I go indoors, I can hear the phone close to my ear. What do I do to change this, or has Apple changed the feature? Very frustrating.
