And we can't go to the river to wash our clothes any more or head out back to the out house. We can't send letters any more or wait until we get back home to call someone. Just because someone doesn't want to take advantage of modern conveniences doesn't mean there aren't going to be others of us who want to take advantage of what smart phones can help us with.

I found that having the feature turned on affected battery life on my 6Se watch. Just rinsing dishes or filling a glass with water to drink seemed to start the hand washing timer. I don't need a timer to tell me when my hands are clean. I can make a mental note to countdown a specific amount of time. Just my opinion about the feature. You & others may find it useful.
