One thing I did not mention in my original message. After my friend had the sighted person enter his pass code and his phone came back on, then his watch was all messed up. Apple accessibility told him to do a forced restart of the watch, and it fixed it. So, when this happens to the phone, until they can get it figured out, I wonder if doing a forced restart of it, then turning it back on would work? I mean, there may not be a sighted person around to enter that code. It almost makes me want to upgrade just to see what camp my cheap phone would be in, but I think I will wait a bit.

Reading through the latest posts, it seems to be happening more and more. Yet, I know somebody who was on the public beta with a regular iphone 13, that says it has never happened to him. When he heard about the experience of the person who was the subject of my message, he turned his 13 off, and it came back on with no problem. Who knows. He turned it off overnight, and this morning, VoiceOver would not respond when he turned it on. Neither turning up the volume, nor doing the three-finger double tap would fix it. He said the clicks he heard when touching the screen were not the clicks heard when speech simply had been turned off. He had to get a sighted person to enter his pass code before it would work. He is a good iphone user, he said that nothing he tried would get it to work. I hope these are isolated incidents, I put it out there for others to test. He said that he had had no problem with IOS 16, until this incident. Arnold Schmidt Sent from Arnold's iPhone S E 2 -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
