What would happen is that your iPhone 8 would have cell service and your
iPhone 13 Pro Max would not and that is the short and the long answer.

When I got my 13 pro max, I put in my sim card from my iPhone 8 for the first
time. It was surprisingly easy. I wonder what would happen if I took the sim
card from my 13 pro max and put it back into my iPhone 8.
