Hi, Sieghard, she understands me just fine, even reads back the message
correctly in its entirety and says she sends it. Then I get a message
failure alert immediately after she says the message has been sent.
Dictation within the messages app works fine, so I guess I'll have to
put up with unlocking my phone and keeping the messages app open to text
until it's fixed.

Probably a temporary glitch, for me all is working as expected but once again it is really
important to wait for a heartbeat or two before you ask Siri whatever it is you want after the

course is just a sample number, Siri came back and said "I can't call 08471234 so it
clearly shows that the first part of what I said was not understood because I spoke to quickly.

Subject: SIRI Failing to Send anything but iMessages
Hi, all.
Using an iPhone 12 Pro with iOS 16.2 over here.
I cannot use SIRI to dictate and send a mesage to someone unless they have an
iPhone and are using iMessage. Obviously, this doesn't work for Android
phones. I cannot even use SIRI to reply to a text sent from someone not using
iMessage. The only way to text is to open the messages app and dictate a
message from within an existing conversation or compose from scratch.
I've turned SIRI off than on again, I've restarted my phone, and I've
double-checked that send SMS messages is on. Is there anything else I can try?
This is really annoying, to say the least.
Has anyone else had this issue and is there a fix for it or is it just another
dumbing down of SIRI issue we have to wait to get corrected?
