I also have an iPhone 14 pro and have the same issue. I'm using Kate enhanced.

Hi,
On my iPhone 14 Pro, VoiceOver always says "unmuted" whichever way the mute
switch is pushed as well. I am using Nathan Enhanced.

I found this most interesting. I think it started in iOS 16, but maybe
not. If I move the switch on the side of the phone, either way VoiceOver
says "unmuted." It does this on n XS, a 12 Pro Max and a 14 Pro Max.
However, even though VO says "unmuted" for both positions, the phone
sounds are definitely muted when the switched is moved to the back of
the phone, and restored when moved to the front. Anyone else ever notice
this?

I'm not experiencing this with my iPhone 11 or iPhone Se 2020. Both phones are

I don't either. If I flip my mute switch one way, I hear muted, if I
flip it back, I hear unmuted. I've got a 13 pro max updated to the
latest version.

Steve,
That is most interesting and you should probably investigate why this is
happening just for you. It seems unlikely that all three of the devices you
mentioned have hardware issues so it must be something with their settings. As
others have reported, VoiceOver speaks muted and unmuted correctly on my iPhone
13 Mini when the switch is activated or deactivated.

It sounds like a call to Apple Accessibility is needed: 877-204-3930 24/7
My 13 pro says muted and unmuted like always. I do not find any settings
related to the mute switch, but Apple Accessibility would be able to figure
this one out.

I suspect the TTS voice being used for VoiceOver might be a contributing
factor. If I were experiencing this, that's the first thing I'd try. I'm using

You can create a zip file with them all in there and put them into dropbox or
Google Drive. Then you can import that one zip file into voice dream reader.
Then it will open it will play those songs in order and yes, you can increase
the speed if you'd like.

The action to get a ZIP archive of MP3 files into VDR is neither import
nor export; it's share. You must share the ZIP archive file with VDR,
and as of iOS 16, VDR is not on the default share sheet screen until you
press the More button toward the bottom. You can do this from the native
Files application, but I bought File Browser just because I like the
interface better, but they both do effectively the same thing.

Josh,
After some experimenting and figuring out what to do, I ultimately did
everything within VDR as well. I don't use the app very often, but I was amazed
at the control and added abilities the user is given regarding creating folders
and moving items into those folders. Once I figured out what I was doing, it
was very easy to get my task accomplished.

You can create a zip file with them all in there and put them into dropbox or
Google Drive. Then you can import that one zip file into voice dream reader.
Then it will open it will play those songs in order and yes, you can increase
the speed if you'd like.

Hi all. I would like to have automatic updates set to off. Under general and
software updates that setting is off, but apps are still updated
automatically from the app store. I think there is somewhere else that I
need to turn automatic updates off, but I can't remember where that is and
can't seem to find it. Any help would be appreciated. I've found a few
incidences where I didn't want an app updated because accessibility got
broken. Again, thanks for everyone's help with all of our questions.

Hi Paula,

In Settings, look for App Store, or iTunes and App Store. I think that has
changed names in different IOS versions. In there, you should find where you
can turn off the automatic app updates.

Hope this helps.

Another place, at least for me, where I find I need to use screen recognition
is with the Apple Store app when I try to read their FAQ. I am in the United
States and running iOS 16.3.1 on both an iPhone 12 mini and an iPhone 13 mini,
although this problem has actually been occurring for quite some time. If I,
say, select an iPhone and go down after all of the color and size selections
and get to the bottom where the frequently asked questions are, I can find the
expand and collapse buttons and double tap on them and read or collapse the
answers, but I can't read the questions they are actually answering unless I
turn on screen recognition first. Of course, given the answers that are shown,
I can pretty much tell what's being answered without turning on screen
recognition to confirm the questions.

After experienncing the same results as reported, I decided to call Apple
Accessibility, rather than email. He tested it on his iphone and was rewarded
with the same mess. He says that Apple already had had several reports about
it, he added mine to the list, along with his own results. I guess a problem
gets more attention when the acccessibility representative gets the same
results as the complaintants. I was told that they are "looking into it", and
that it will be fixed in "a future update." I am glad I didn't wait until the
last minute to change a subscription. And how could this have gott, past the
beta testers? Are there beta testers?

That must have changed in the last 4-6 weeks because I remember at some point
in January I had a look at this because my wife has a yearly subscription for
an app/service and it was showing up. I can confirm Davy's finding and this by
the way is also now on iOS 16.4 public beta so apparently it makes no
difference whether the iOS version is 15, 16 or 16.4 beta.
I agree with Davy in this case, people should definitely report this. I did
also try this with screen recognition turned on and it makes no difference. I
get 3 headings, Active, Inactive and Options. Under Options Voiceover correctly
reads whether the "Share with Family" option is checked or not.
Under "Active" I find a pop up button which allows you to pick app name, price
or renewal date to sort your subscriptions, but while I can pick any of these
options, after I do I still don't see any apps/services listed.

It is about the appstore and all subscriptions randomly of apps for which you

I would consider reporting, but I have no idea what subscriptions you were

Although it wouldn't be ideal by any means, when I checked just now, I could
turn on screen recognition while in the list of apps to which I was subscribed,
and I could then actually view that list of applications. I could also double
tap on one of the apps to which I was subscribed, then turn off screen
recognition, And then I could see the option to cancel that subscription if I
wanted to do so.

That is interesting because I also tried it with screen recognition turned on
and it made no difference in my case.
Anyways, even if that ere a work-around, such an integral setting of the OS
should not require any user to jumop through even a single hoop, it would be no
different if Apple did something so every time you wanted to turn Wi-Fi on or
off or check for updates you would be required to turn on screen recognition so
you can complete the task.

Hello,
I was just getting ready to suggest checking on your subscriptions from the
settings area rather than the app store. However, it is broken as well. You
can't read them from there either.

Actually, the screen recognition didn't work for me the first time I tried it
either. However, since I have a credit union app that requires the same thing,
in most cases, if I wait maybe 10 seconds or so after I invoke the screen
recognition before trying to do anything with the app, it will work and read
things for me. However, I absolutely do agree that this should be fixed,
especially for such an important function with Apple.

Just read this news story. As it notes, my iPhone SE 2020 had the clean energy
setting turned on, so I turned it off. I'm usually in a hurry to charge my
phone, so I don't want anything to slow it down.
