You have had some answers already, but just to confirm, swiping up, what I
describe more as a flick up or down, should give you the delete option, but
only if the rotor is on Actions.

If yours is not defaulting to actions when on a message, try turning it to
Actions then do the gesture.

As for the inbox, you could be dealing with the fact that your account, when
you first touch it, says collapsed or expanded.

If it says collapsed, you have to double tap on it to expand it.

Then, flick right once and you will be on the inbox.

I have my mail app set so that the inbox is at the top, and I have several mail
accounts, so I pretty much have all the account inboxes in a particular order
at the top, then if I keep flicking right through the account I will get to a
place where they repeat and are collapsed. When you expand an account, you
will also see the drafts, sent, junk and trash folders and perhaps more
depending on the particular service.

Subject: Back to Basics

for the past few years I have been using mail apps other than the native Appple
app. I decided to go back to the “Apple app. I re-downloaded it yesterday. I
realize that either I have forgotten some things, or there have been changes. I
have two questions for now.\

1. How do you delete messages? One friend says she swipes up once for
delete. That does not work on my phone.
2. Where is my in box? Sometimes it is there when I open the app and at
other times I am taken to a list of the folders in mail and I cannot find the
in vox.

Thanks for any help.
