Sandra, it is not a setting. It is something that is there by default if you are on something upon which you can take an action.  I'll try to explain it another way. If all else fails, I will make a screen recording. While editing, like I am right now, there is no action on the rotor.  If, I am in a list of emails with none open, but ready to double tap to open it, if I turn the rotor rather than double tapping, Action will be one item on the rotor. and if I stop there and I flick up or down, different actions will be spoken, like delete, More, etc.  If you are not turning the rotor slowly enough you may miss it. But, it is there on every Apple device I have used from the iPod Touch 3rd gen, through my current iPhone 13 pro and every iPad I have used or owned.  If you still are missing it, I will do a recording and send it along. Here you can select exactly which folders your main screen should show and in what order you want them in. I have my business email and my main personal email set up on my iPhone, but instead of having to expand these accounts to get to the inbox, I have each inbox on the main screen separately at the very top. If yours is not defaulting to actions when on a message, try turning it to Actions then do the gesture.   As for the inbox, you could be dealing with the fact that your account, when you first touch it, says collapsed or expanded. If it says collapsed, you have to double tap on it to expand it. Then, flick right once and you will be on the inbox. I have my mail app set so that the inbox is at the top, and I have several mail accounts, so I pretty much have all the account inboxes in a particular order at the top, then if I keep flicking right through the account I will get to a place where they repeat and are collapsed.  When you expand an account, you will also see the drafts, sent, junk and trash folders and perhaps more depending on the particular service.   HTH,   Richard, USA "INTROVERTS UNITE ...
