I guess it all depends on how soundly you sleep they have different sounds like rushing water or waves or birds, and if you set one of those as your alarm, it starts out really soft and then slowly gets louder and louder and louder until it reaches full volume. If you are really deep sleeper, you might not notice it may not wake you up but if you are a lighter sleeper, you should have no problem with it. I currently have an alarm clock with Ocean Sounds as the alarm sound. it does the same thing gradually getting louder and louder. If you let the alarm, continue to run without stopping it and it always wakes me up. but then again, I am more of a light sleeper and any new sound wakes me up. If you are a deep sleeper, it may not you might need something more like Music or some thing.
