Hi Rebecca, Push is the default. Anyhow, here is where you go:
Settings Mail, Contacts, Calendars Go past your account or accounts you have set up, once you get to the "Add Account" button, swipe right once more, Voiceover will say "Fetch new data, Push". Well, for me it says Push, if you set it to fetch at a time interval it may say "Fetch new data, 15 minutes" or if you set it to manual it will say "Manual". You can double tap here and change this to what you want. Do keep in mind that having it set to Push will use a bit more battery than if you set it to fetch only every 30 minutes or even once an hour. It's a trade off, I like to get my email, especially my business email, as it arrives on the server so I like Push. It should not matter what you set this to as far as hearing the new mail sound as long as you don't set it to "Manual". This means it will only get mail if you go into the mail app and do a 3-finger swipe down to refresh. You can set it to Push or a time interval and mail should come in whether the mail app is running or not.
