Ricardo,
I have the Poetic case, the one without the keyboard and the smart cover
function works perfectly. I was kind of sorry to hear that this
function wasn't working properly with yours as I was really considering
purchasing this model with the BT keyboard. Have you contacted Poetic
to see if it's a known issue? Perhaps they've corrected it and would
replace the one you currently have.
Best,

Hi,
I got the Poetic keyboard case from amazon. It is a imitation leather folio
case with a removable BT keyboard in side. Its a great case if stylish, and
extra productivity is what your looking for. The spacking of the keys, aand
overall feel of the BT keyboard is better than I imagined. I can really fly
typing on that thing. I believe it cost me $20. It also has those magnets
built in the case for the auto sleep wake feature that the smart cover has. I
disabled this on my iPad mini because, it wasn't working right with the case
though.

Hello all,
thanks for the suggestions so far.
I just wanted to add a couple of things. I want to avoid bulking up the device.
If I get a case, I want something that is stylish.
With that said, i am not sure whether just a smart cover like the one apple
sells or a stylish case will suffice. Someone got me an outter box case for the
ipad III and I just found it added too much weight to the device.

I have purchased a case from STM. It's called the STM Skinny for iPad mini
and I truly love it. It has a smart cover type of front and a hard back. The
iPad snaps snuggly into the hard plastic frame which is lined with a soft
micro-felt interior. The front also has the same lining.
